Dave Matthews And Friends Hit The Road This Summer

Dave Matthews And Friends Hit The Road This Summer

From Coast To Coast

Although Dave Matthews announced the band will be taking this summer off in honor of their 20th anniversary, they have decided to do a few festival shows that will reach both coasts with a stop in the Midwest. Chicagoans are used to catching the annual shows that the band puts on at Alpine Valley Music Theatre, but this year they are bringing an entourage with them spanning many genres of music at a new venue. From hip-hop to alternative rock, many big names will be joining what they’ve dubbed the Dave Matthews Caravan. Some of the more popular bands that will be at the festival are O.A.R., Kid Cudi, Ray Lamontagne, The Flaming Lips, and Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. Rest assured that much of the Alpine Valley crowd will be making their way to the south shores of our city.

The New Venue

For those of you who have made the 90 mile drive up to Alpine Valley every summer since you can remember, the new venue may be unfamiliar territory. Located a short 10 miles from the loop, Lakeside (as it is called on the official festival website) can be found at 83rd and Lake Shore Drive. This will be a first time experience for everyone in attendance as the Lakeside space has not previously been used for any sort of event. The area is described as a piece of land that curves into the lake, with a majestic view of the city to the north. It is expected to become a new neighborhood project for the city with plans for houses, condos, restaurants, and businesses to flourish over the next 30 years. It will be a great new experience for many Dave Matthews Band fans who are used to the lake scene up in the hills of Wisconsin, not in Chicago.

Single Day Tickets And 3-Day Passes

At first only 3-day passes were made available to the public, but the Chicago festival as well as the Atlantic City festival have now offered single day passes for fans who may want to catch 1 or 2 particular nights. The 3-day pass will cost you $195.00 as the single day pass is a modest $85.00 per night. VIP tickets are also available in 3-day and single day options. Keep things cool and convenient with VIP viewing sections, VIP parking, complimentary water, beer, snacks, and soft drinks, in addition to a gourmet buffet style dinner from 5pm to 8 pm each night.  If you are not much into the festival scene or you wanted to only catch specific performances, Ray Lamontagne will be playing at Jay Pritzker Pavilion on June 17th and The Flaming Lips will also be playing at the Aragon Ballroom on July 7th & 8th.
