Bears get their Man!
On Monday, January 19, 2015 the Chicago Bears officially welcomed John Fox as the franchise’s 15th head coach.
Following the dismissal Marc Trestman after only two years, there was considerable speculation from Bears fans which direction the franchise would head. The team had no general manager (having also fired Phil Emery) and no head coach. After ownership tabbed former Saints front office man Ryan Pace as the next general manager the obvious next step was to find a head coach. The Bears filled their head coaching vacancy officially on Monday with the hiring of John Fox, former head coach of the Carolina Panthers and, for the last four years, the Denver Broncos. Fox instantly brings the Bears something they have not had in a while: a head coach with previous experience as one.
The new head coach met with the media for 31-minutes on Monday and said all the right things. During his tenure in Denver he led the Broncos to the playoffs all four years and even to a conference championship. Bears fans will surely also remember the disappointment of losing to Fox’s Panthers team in the 2005 playoffs.
Ryan Pace and John Fox have wasted no time in assuming command and just today took care of their defensive coordinator position by hiring Vic Fangio from the 49ers. Things are starting to shape up for the Bears, but there is still lots of work to do for the Bears to get back on the right track. This won’t be Fox’s first rebuilding effort as he took a one win Carolina team to the Super Bowl two years later. Can the long-time coach have similar success with the Bears? Will Jay Cutler stay the quarterback? Stay tuned to Gold Coast Tickets who will have you covered with any breaking news on the Chicago Bears news all offseason!
