Madonna's Rebel Heart Tour

Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour

The queen of pop is no stranger to the extravagant, whether it’s her raging 57th birthday party in the Hamptons recently or her Rebel Heart tour which kicks off September 9 in Montreal.  Electronic superstar Diplo will be the opening act for Madonna’s 2 shows in Quebec, then comedian Amy Schumer will take over the opening duties for the next few shows in the New York area.  The tour was scheduled to begin on August 29 in Miami, but Madonna had to postpone her first 5 dates to add more rehearsal time to ensure that the show will be perfect.  She was recently quoted in a statement & said, “Assembling all the elements will require more time than we realized.  I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause my fans.  I can promise you this show will be worth the wait.  Can’t wait to share it with all my Rebel Hearts out there.”  Check out the teaser video below:

Madonna has pushed the limits of conventional fashion for years & is set to team up with some major names in the industry to help design her costumes & wardrobe for the tour.  Arianne Phillips, who has worked with Madonna for her last 6 tours will be overseeing all wardrobe designs & will contribute on a number of costumes along with Alessandro Michele for Gucci, Alexander Wang, Fausto Puglisi, Jeremy Scott for Moschino, Nicolas Jebran, Miu Miu, Prada & Swarovski to name a few.

She estimates that she’s been spending 10-12 hours per day preparing for the tour.  Such a rigorous schedule that she needs an aide to follow her around & make sure she stays nourished.  The world tour runs for 6 months including dates in England, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, New Zealand, Australia & The Philippines.  According to Forbes, this may be another record breaking tour for Madonna, with secondary market ticket prices averaging around $331 per ticket.  A tour’s success can’t be judged based on secondary market conditions, in the past few years, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, the Rolling Stones & even Madonna were considered flops initially because secondary market prices were less expensive than the box office.  Primary ticket sales for the tour have been strong, even if pre-sales haven’t measured up to previous years.  Even though her album sales aren’t what they used to be, the tour quality & ticket sales are expected to surpass other big names in the industry such as Lady Gaga & Janet Jackson.  There’s one thing that Madonna fans can be assured of for this tour, is to expect the unexpected!
