Paul McCartney at Summerfest July 8

Milwaukee’s annual Summerfest is labeled as “The World’s Largest Music Festival” & features 11 stages of music over the span of 11 days with over 700 bands performing.  Each year, the festival brings in between 800,000-1,000,000 people which is enough to be certified in 1999 by Guinness World Records.  Locally & nationally recognized bands from various genres of music perform each day with the larger acts playing on the main stage at the Marcus Amphitheater.   All shows are free with admission to the festival with the exception of the acts playing on the main stage which requires a separate ticket to attend.  Summerfest has booked some impressive artists over the years, including acts like The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Neil YoungThe Doors, Grateful Dead, Eric Clapton, Metallica, Bon Jovi & more.  Other than music, another attraction that draws people to Summerfest is the wide variety of food, provided mostly from  restaurants in the Milwaukee area.

Last year, The Rolling Stones were the main headliner & served as “The Ultimate Kick-Off to Summerfest” when they performed on the night before the festival opened.  Not many acts can top The Rolling Stones as a headliner, but the folks at Summerfest might have done it this year when they booked Paul McCartney.  The former Beatle is back on tour & ready to light up Summerfest when he plays the Marcus Amphitheater on July 8.  His set list features 3 hours of music mostly comprised of familiar Beatles hits, a few songs from Wings and a couple of his deeper solo songs that haven’t been played/heard in years.  McCartney celebrated his 74th birthday recently but hasn’t lost his ability to put on a killer show.  Summerfest is the perfect setting for this concert since the music can be appreciated by fans of all ages.  Great seats are still available for purchase by clicking here.
